Josealberto Herrera is a multidisciplinary artist based in Mexico.

He is fascinated by the many paradoxes and mysteries of life. The interplay between life and death, beauty and imperfection, intention and spontaneity. With these concepts in mind he creates works of art that explore the deeper aspects of our existence and that reflect our very own nature. He believes these concepts are inseparably intertwined and constantly interacting with one another.

If that sounded too pretentious it’s because it is!

He is obsessed with what the meaning of life could be. Because it could very well mean nothing. After all we are temporary structures that can think, feel and create, which were assembled spontaneously from atoms created in the hearts of long dead stars.

Art can be rooted in great ideas and complex concepts but does it really need to be justified or explained? Can it also be spontaneous and mysterious like our very own existence? Josealberto knows it can be both, it really does not matter, at the end of the day saying your art has no concept because art should not be confined to concept is a concept in and of itself.

While there are certainly techniques and skills that can be learned and honed, the true value of art lies in its ability to evoke emotion and meaning. Or not! Many people just want a pretty and expensive thing to hang on their wall$.

Josealberto likes originality, but then again, can someone be completely original? These days it seems most things are a copy of a copy of a copy, which they are. But it’s part of being human, we learn from those who came before us, take their ideas, add a personal touch and make it our own (what a great way to make his art bullet proof).
